Dear Business Partner,

For many businesses in our markets, 2025 has been a challenging year. European steel consumption declined despite earlier expectations of recovery, influenced by tariffs, supply chain disruptions and cautious investment. Towards the end of the year, however, we see the first signs of stabilization, with a modest improvement expected in 2026.

Two developments will strongly shape the market in the year ahead: the introduction of CBAM on January 1, 2026, and the new EU safeguard measures. These will affect pricing, import dynamics and availability. Many buyers have shifted towards shorter delivery periods and pre-CBAM stocking has reached record levels. Thanks to our global network and supplier base, Van Leeuwen is well positioned to guide customers through this transition and ensure reliable supply.

This edition of VL Connect highlights how our worldwide teams continue to create value in diverse industries. We showcase our expertise in amusement rides, where top-quality tubes ensure safety, and in the automotive sector, where we supply over 150 million parts annually, including essential components such as cross car beams. Our Global Project Organization supports complex CAPEX projects with complete PFF (Pipes, Fittings, Flanges) packages, global logistics and expert project management.

This year, we welcomed Dan-Equip A/S to the Van Leeuwen family, a strong strategic fit with deep expertise in offshore, shipbuilding, and construction. Their capabilities, combined with ours, offer new opportunities for our Northern European customers.

In agriculture, the shift towards electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered machinery increases the demand for advanced hydraulic systems. Our specialists outline how our precision tubes, piston rods and HPL tubes support this evolution and ensure safe, durable performance.

Finally, we present our five major sustainability initiatives, including our EcoVadis Silver Medal and participation in the Science Based Targets initiative. We also highlight our broader range of CO₂-reduced tube solutions, supporting customers in reaching their climate goals through transparency, technical expertise and tailor-made options.

Across all markets, our commitment remains the same: to deliver reliability, expertise and partnership, especially in times of change.

Thank you for your continued trust in Van Leeuwen. I hope you enjoy reading this edition of VL Connect.
